Marriage/Registered partnership
If you want to get married or enter into a registered partnership your main contact is the registry office where you have decided to register your marriage or partnership. This is the office that determines the documents required and the conditions that apply. Please find out well in advance what formalities you will need to comply with and which civil status documents are needed.
If your marriage or partnership was registered abroad, it must be entered into the Swiss civil register by the proper authority in Switzerland. If your marriage was registered in Switzerland, your change of civil status must be entered into the Register of the Swiss Abroad. In order to do so, you need to submit certain documents to your Swiss representation.
Same sex marriage is not allowed in Jordan/Iraq.
Marriage/Partnership to be performed abroad
If you are domiciled abroad, your surname is subject to the law of the country in which you are domiciled. The civil status authorities of the place where you get married or otherwise formalise your union abroad can provide information about the rules governing the use of your surname(s) after your union is performed. Please contact them directly.
Marriage to be performed in Switzerland
A preparatory procedure is mandatory for having your union performed in Switzerland. Please find out well in advance what formalities you will need to comply with.

After your union is performed abroad, this must be entered into the Swiss civil register.

The change of your civil status must be entered into the Register of the Swiss Abroad.
Marriage for all in Switzerland − Provisions in force
In Switzerland, same-sex couples can marry. No further registered partnerships may be concluded. An existing registered partnership can be converted into a marriage.
